Carmen Annen-Bonati
Carmen Annen-Bonati was born in Root in Lucerne and has been living and working for many years in Stansstad in the Canton of Nidwalden. Since 1985 she has been impressively present with her collages and her graphic reproduction at exhibitions at home and abroad. Her large-sized installations and objects as well as impressive roundabouts made of steel and works for Percent for Art are just as successful and award-winning.
Impressive variety
Carmen Annen-Bonati is characterised by a large variety of techniques and works, a constant reorientation, searching for perfection and new forms of expression of her paintings. When visiting her studio in Stansstad, her collage works in the style of pop art attract attention which are a result of her painting.
«This is painted, structured linen which I cut into very small pieces and tear into big stripes. I allow the colours to act in the body of the painting. With texts, photos and colours I design a harmony, a new statement.» The artist has found her own base structure with small and big stripes. She puts the parts together, next to each other and on top of each other. She cuts everything she has painted. However, she does not destroy it, but creates new things.
She calls her new paintings Zwischenraum. It is moving on from the surface into the room. The knotted, covered linen stripes are presented as a three-dimensional object.
The sketchbook nude studies, enlarged in stripe technique, results in plastic forms. The female erotic theme is also repeated in the paintings of: SCHRITT FÜR SCHRITT “DER PUMPS”. She mixes all of those works with colour fields, e.g.: “STILLES ROT” and introduces cross-linking as a topic. In all of these works she designs A WHOLE, A PAINTING.
